Title Ripley Journals
Creator Ripley, Charles Henry

Scope & Content Journal of a railroad trip to the west including Kansas, seven paper bound volumes. Appears to be written by Charles Ripley, although unsigned. Illustrated with several pencil and pen and ink drawings. Several loose drawings and one loose poem by Ripley's sister Julia Dorr regarding the journals, dated Christmas 1873. Legible hand. Also one tintype in green paper envelope labeled "Smith & Grove, Photographers" one cover and "Pueblo March 8 1872 in pencil inside.
Administrative/Biographical History Charles Ripley managed a ranch in Colorado btween 1870 and 1879. His brothers Edward and William owned shares, and often came out to visit. These journals appear to be a record of one of these visits.
