|Administrative/Biographical History||The Pittsford Iron Manufacturing Company in Rutland County was founded in 1826 by Simeon Granger. In 1852 the company was restructured as a stock company called the Pittsford Iron Company. The furnace had a capcity to produce 2,600 tons of product per year. Local ore was used, especially from nearby Chittenden mines. They produced a cast iron stove in 1857.|
