|Administrative/Biographical History||Charles P. Goodrich lived in Burlington, Vermont when he enlisted; he was mustered February 9, 1863 and killed in action May 12, 1864 at one of the battles fought at Spotsylvania, Virginia. On May 12 the Union engaged the Confederate forces in what turned out to be a twenty hour hand-to-hand struggle for what came to be known as the Bloody Angle. He was a private in the Fifth Vermont Volunteers, Company F.|
