The collection includes three letters and a note addressed to Samuel Fay. They are mainly concerned with his position as the Sheriff in Bennington. They discuss individuals neglect in paying bail and various services Fay perfomed in his role as Sheriff as they discuss his fee.
One letter dated August 31, 1820 mentions Fay's son joining the author and the comment that he does not yet know whether he will go into business but will decide by next week.
