Scope & Content Deeds, promissory notes, and correspondence as well as information on a monument for Amos Bird, a poem, local programs and events (150th anniversary of the Green Mountain Boys and Castleton Seminary exhibition), and an undated map showing the railroad entrance into town. There is also a book that records Castleton marriages from 1781 to 1792 (34 entries) on the last four pages. The first part of the book is justice of the peace records from Simsbury, Connecticut from 1755 to 1770.
Administrative/Biographical History Several documents are signed by the earliest settlers of Castleton: Eli Cogswell, Ambrose Everts, Elisha Everts, Sarah Sutherland, Araunah Woodward and Charlotte Woodward. Also one deed to George Foot by Asa Lake dated 1786. It was on July 6th, 1777 the day before the Battle of Hubbardton that a lively skirmish took place at Foot's house between recruits and a British foraging party.
