|Title||War of 1812 Records|
|Creator||Merrill, Orasmus Cook|
|Dates of Creation||1814-1873|
|Scope & Content||The first part of the ledger is labeled "Orderly Book / Rutland May 8 1814" and records regimental notes through June 8, 1814 in eleven pages. Many notes are signed off by Orsamus C. Merrill, Major, 11th Infantry. There is also a one page list of furloughs on the last page of the ledger. The majority of the book was used for drafts of letters to the editor from George W. Robinson, most relate to Bennington and Vermont history. There is a partial transcription of what appears to be a school census labeled the Census of District No. 5, listing heads of families and what appear to be age ranges dated 1873. Scattered throughout are slips of paper, some appear to be letters, promissory notes and notes to the writer.|
