Object Shawl
Description Paisley shawl, pieced and embroidered construction, many small curving sections in twill tapestry makcin up center paisley design. Mid nineteenth century, probably kashmir. Basic colors of red, black, light blue with small center section of black. Light blue fabric used for piecing is an all over pattern of early style. Shrinkage or construction cause very uneven surface. Pieced border fully hand embroidered in wool, fringed on all sides. Workmanship is rough. Belonged to Mrs. Cebra Quackenbush, has cloth label printed "Quackenbush" in one corner.
