Large wooden picture viewer on stand, labeled in French, "Megalethoscope" and in Italian "Megaletoscopio". Shows 16" x 12" paper photographs which have gauze backing and are framed in wood. The picture fits into a holder which has its original label. The picture holder is made to be placed into the body of the viewer. Overall length of the piece is 34 1/2"; its height at highest point is 24". There are eight identified pictures for the magalethoscope; most of them with the original labels intact. Some of the photographs: "Grand Canal: Palace Trepolo, Realto's Bridge, Venice", "Library in Vatican in Rome" and "Blue Grotto, April, Naples". Viewer also has the ability to display standard-sized photographs, glass slides, and odd-shaped printed material.
