Description |
Cane made from the wood of the first apple tree planted in Bennington, Vermont. The tree was planted by Bridget Harwood in 1761. Smooth bottom portion of shaft, narrowed tip (possibly for metal ferrule, now missing). Top portion of cane is ribbed, with a silver metal cuff at top. Turned knob-shaped handle. For many years the cane was owned by Deacon Samuel Robinson. |
