Group of material related to the H.T. Cushman Manufacturing Company of North Bennington, Vermont. "Corporate Record" ledger book includes articles of association and early minutes of the Directors and Stockholders. This volume describes a dispute between the Cushman Company and the H.C. White Company over water rights. Three ledger books of the minutes of the Board of Directors discuss rates of pay, bonuses, charitable donations, workers' union relations, ordering wood, upgrading the factory, and the introduction of a new contemporary line of furniture in 1954. Two books of minutes of stockholders' meetings discuss stock, meetings from the 1960s mention the state of the business as a whole. Also one bound Record of Accounts for Common stock, preferred stock and debenture bonds. Folders contain minutes from 1963-1964 of the Operating Committee, which details attempts to cut costs and remain profitable and many loose papers with detailed budget figures and Hall Cushman's Report to Stockholders covering the year 1963. Also included are Certified copy of Articles of Association and amendments for H.T. Cushman and Articles of Association for Cushmanco, a stock company created after the furniture business was sold. Liquidation papers for Cushmanco complete the group. |
