Scope & Content |
Papers of Fenton and Hall families. Leander Fenton (1807-1864) ran the St. Johnsbury Pottery with his father until it burned down in 1859. Letters are sorted by person, and there are files on the Universalist Churches, art, and poetry written by the family. The St. Johnsbury Pottery record book (1854-1860) is found and other notes left from the pottery, and diaries of the family. Leander’s masonic certificate is enclosed, as well as his father’s probate records, family records, and newspaper clippings. Most papers pertain to the family and not the pottery. The family’s social life is well documented with letters and invitations. Members of the family left St. Johnsbury, and there are records and newspapers from Ohio, Boston, and Louisiana. Other materials include newspaper scrapbooks, sketches, greeting cards, recipes, and several small cards with names. |
