There are sixty-four total documents, forty-five legal with the bulk between 1805-1809, and nineteen Bennington County commissions - twelve for sheriff and three for justice of the peace. Included are a list of payments to the county from the state between 1781 and 1785, receipts for collection of a debt by the sheriff, a promissory note from Captain Daniel Shays, other notes, bail bonds, a receipt for goods awarded in a judgment, recovery for a gaol bond, an 1812 request from the South Carolina Court of Common Pleas to examine witnesses in Bennington, and an 1812 request to become a naturalized American citizen.
