Papers related to Alonzo Buckingham Valentine. They include a letter from Senator Justin Morrill dated February 26, 1891. Morrill writes to inform Valentine of his amendment for $14,000 for an appropriation for the stairway of the Bennington Monument. Although any further contribution would be unlikely due to a hostile committee. Also included is a copy of "The Pactolus" which billed itself as a weekly newspaper devoted to everything of interest and published by the Social Fraternity. The handwritten newspaper is dated October 28, 1859 from Fairfax, Vermont. Lastly, another handwritten copy of a newspaper. The Union Chronicle the newsletter from the Union Academy of East Bennington, Vermont dated March 12, 1845 with A. B. Valentine serving as an editor alongside C. S. Robinson. |
