Papers related to the Rockwood and Colvin families of Bennington, Vermont. The earliest papers are deeds involving the Colvin family. Included among them are land transactions made by Reuben Colvin Jr. and Charles Colvin involving land in Bennington and Woodford, Vermont. Later deeds and land transactions also involve Samuel Rockwood Jr. and his two sons George W. Rockwood and Buel Rockwood. Most of the land involved remains either in Woodford or Bennington. Other documents include an inventory of the estate of Reuben Colvin, various receipts, and the legal guardianship papers of Isabella Walker to Charles Colvin. Included because it was written on the back of a mortgage from Reuben Colvin to Asa Hyde is the acceptance of Stephen Fay and Mary Fay to serve as the executors of the estate of David Fay in April 1827. |
