Note with postscript, appears to be related to letters from Charles M. Bliss to Charles E. Dewey (1996.13). Reads: "I believe you are so fair and honorable a man that if you knew every step I have taken in this monument project and then money it cost me to take it, you would say return every dollar to me even if we had to reduce the height of the monument to do it." Small embossed emblem at the top, right hand side, showing Hercules with the world on his shoulder. |
