Records and papers related to Captain Albert Walker of the U. S. Volunteers 3rd Brigade 3rd Division 5th Army Corp. Walker was a commissary supply officer from Bennington, Vermont although buried in Manchester, Vermont. The records were created as a part of Walker's role as a Commissary of Subsistence in order to document the use of supplies and rations for the Commissary Department. Walker was also sent a number of letters from the Office of the Commissary General Subsistence regarding the reports he filed and if he was being held fiscally accountable for errors. The records cover the period from February 1863 to June 1865 with the majority of the documents held in paper packages separated by month with some loose documents and one month not separated in a similar manner. There are also some journals with information closely connected with the official records covering the period from August 1864 to June 1865. |
