Copy of Green Mountain Farmer, August 12, 1812 volume four number eight printed by William Haswell. Lists various acts enacted by Congress, a War Department declaration and Vermont legal notices as well as news. The latter is mainly concerned with the war against Canada and Republican politics. Also included is the Republican ticket for state offices including Governor and Lieutenant Governor. Of note is a proclamation by Brigadier General and Commander of the North Western army of the United States, William Hull to the citizens of Canada telling them his invasion force is not meant to make enemies but to find them. As such he hopes to be welcomed as a friend. |
