The collection consists of three letters written to David Robinson Junior from 1834 to 1854 and a receipt dated in 1806. The latter is from Jediah Aylsworth. The letters are from Isaac Hill, Homer E. Hubble, and C. F. Haniford. The first letter is from Hill referring to the confirmation of Archibald Hyde as the Collector of Customs over Robinson's preferred candidate Mr. Buck. Hill wrote that Hyde had the support of both Vermont Senator's. The second letter is a letter from Hubble referring generally to politics and an error their friends made on May 31, 1849. Hubble agrees with Robinson that they hope to see competent men placed into government positions with the new administration and mentions his desire to increase the national democracy. Lastly, a letter from C. F. Haniford referring to an unfavorable reply Robinson received after presenting papers Haniford had forwarded to him. He then mentions that he would rather fight them in court than see them receive more than he had initially offered. |
