Notes |
Sam Patterson (1892-1982) was a Bennington mail carrier who retired in 1951 after 37 years of service. He and his family moved to the old Olin Scott home on Pleasant Street in 1945. They named it "Edgewater Inn" and lived there until 1961. He dabbled in photography, taking pictures and even selling some photo supplies out of his home in the 1950's. He was never a professional photographer, but just did it as a hobby, and had his own darkroom. I got this information from his daughter Shirley Welch. Ted Bird Realtor, Commercial Division Hoisington Realty, Inc. According to Van Graves, 101 year old long time Bennington resident, Patterson was a motorcycle nut and organized "Gypsy Tours" on Sunday afternoons. He and his father were mechanics and had a shop on Dewey Street. (per telephone conversation 2/2008 CRS) |
