Description |
Personal and business correspondence and material. Undated items include one to cousin Nathan (son of Gov. Moses Robinson) and one A.L.S. cut from a possible legal letter and one from Samuel Hand requesting payment of taxes. One letter to Colonel David and Sarah from Williams College, one undated letter to "Dear Father" with a note at the end "Please do not show this letter." Based on the content it is probably ca. 1803-1804, just after his father remarried. Two other letters are undated but seem to be about the same time period and are addressed "Honored Father," and "My Dear Father." These are probably while David Jr. was residing with his cousin Benjamin Robinson in Fayetteville, North Carolina. Two other letters to his father are dated 1809, one posted from New York and one from Fayetteville. There is one letter to his brother Stephen Robinson dated 1810, one 1817 receipt for shingle nails. One power of attorney from David Baker Robinson to David Robinson Jr. There are three letters dated 1853, 1856, and 1857 to "My good friend General Cass." One letter each from Dr. A.J. DeRosset, Stephen Hunt. Other names included are Jonathan Robinson, C.P. Van Ness, Ruthy Robinson, Samuel Fay, Winslow Lynch, Henry Robinson, Lewis Cass, Freeman Huling, Henry Kellogg, D.A. Smally, John Sibly, Bowen Cross, Elihu Cross, Oliver Perry, Hezekiah Smith, Ezra Baker, Isaiah Moore, David Walbridge, Jabez Knapp, D. Kellogg, Samuel Chadwick.
