Description |
Negative of older man emptying buckets of sap next to maple tree with buckets hanging from it. Identified as Francis Frazier of Pownal in his sugarbush on Pownal Road. Featured in article in Bennington Evening Banner about creating maple syrup. |
Information |
This photograph appeared in the "Bennington Banner" newspaper April 2, 1960. In 1960 modern tubing was available for maple operations, but Frazier still used wood buckets, covers, gathering tanks, and storage tanks, since he believed the containers influenced the flavor of the final product. He did upgrade to a tractor rather than a horse or ox to pull his tanks. |
