Description |
Daguereotype of Nathan B. Haswell and his seven daughters. Full length portraits, one older man seated between four middle aged women also seated, three younger women stand behind the seater group. Five of the women wear dark dresses with light collars and cuff is various styles, one woman wears a light dress with light collar and cuff, another woman wears a floral print dress with light collar and cuffs, all seven women wear black crocheted fingerless gloves and have their hair parted in the center and pulled back. The man wears a dark jacket, pants and vest over a white shirt with a drak bowtie, he also wears some kind of two toned sash and holds an object shaped like a gavel or maybe a pipe, he is balding on top and has thick mutton chops. Butterscotch brown leatherette case with central flower design surrounded by various types of frames, interior edge decorated with a gold leaf design. Very faded red velvet interior left with a filigree harp design stamped in the center. Simple brass with octagonal opening. Glassed. Double hook and loop closure. |
