Information |
The Roman Catholic church in North Bennington was dedicated to St. John the Baptist in 1872. The building on Water Street was originally built as a Universalist Church in 1836. The Universalists used it until 1849, at which time it was fitted up as an academy. The building continued to be used as a school until 1870, when North Bennington built a graded school. The building was a Catholic church until 1929 when the congregation moved to their new building on Houghton Street. This building was used for storage until it burned in 1936. |
