Black and white photograph mounted on cardboard of the General Safford home, on East Main Street, Bennington, Vermont (now the Safford Inn 2017). Decorated for the 1877 Centennial celebration by M.C. Morgan, owner at the time. White house, mostly hidden by trees, decorated with bunting, sign near roof "Home of Gen. Safford BUILT IN 1774". Group of men and women seated and standing around doorway and under tree to right. White picket fence, sidewalk and unpaved road in foreground. Spots in lower corners, probably from imperfections in glass plate negative. |
