On August 22, 1959 the Bennington Banner published a full page "Bannercamera" article with photographs by staff photographer Jon Allen featuring children watching the Bennington Battle Day parade. This one was not published, but is very similar to another (2004.688.113) that appeared with the caption, "Watching in comfort–Mary Cahill, 6, views marchers from her own sidewalk armchair with complete absorption, her jaunty had serving to shield her from the bright sun. She remained at her position for most of the two and one-half hour parade" |
