Description |
Steelyards, owned and used for many years by Jacob Poole, (born 1767, died 1864). Much used in the Center Village for weighing new-born babies, in the first half of the 1800s. Narrow steel pole with three sharp steel hooks attached. On the side, are measurement lines, going from 1 to 13 on one side and 12, 16, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, 50, on the reverse. Weight, also is steel, and has hook at top. The handle is marked 14. |
