Description |
Chest made with a broadax by Peter Harwood, about 1760. Brought to Bennington, Vermont June 18, 1761 and said to have been used to hold the clothes of Benjamin Harwood (born January 1762). Crude chest on simple v-shaped legs. Unfinished rough hewn wood; leather hinges; double hinged two piece top; iron nails (hand wrought); paper tag underneath may read "Miss Waites" or "Miss Waters". |
