This is one of a suite of six lithographs Hunt executed in 1857 after some of his own paintings (see also 1960.138, Stag in Moonlight, which was another of the lithographs in this suite). The original painting of The Violet Girl was painted a year earlier in 1856 and is now in the collection of the Museum of Art, Rhode Island School of Design. |
