Description |
Fired clay (terra cotta) sculpture of seated female nude with three stylized peacocks. Figure sits with her legs drawn up under her and gazes down and to the right. Peacock perched on each shoulder and at her right hip. Figure on a circular base with low relief, repeated designs on the sides of a band of triangles (sawtooth) surmounted by a band of circles, top two-thirds of the side depicts birds and stylized flowers and acanthus plants. Base is in the Egyptian Revival mode while the figure evokes the Art Nouveau. Inscribed on surface of base: "Harriette.G.Miller/ [copyright symbol] 1928" Probably the clay model used to create further reproductions. |
