Information |
The star on top of the Bennington Battle Monument was made by blacksmith Frank A. Wahlquist, a native of Sweden who immigrated to the United States in 1887. After his work on the Monument, he worked for Olin Scott and later set up his own shop on Franklin Lane. The Monument was completed in 1889 and dedicated in 1891, on the 100th anniversary of Vermont statehood. This small model of the star sits on a base made of the same limestone as the Monument. |
