This blueprint map shows the unfinished Bennington County section of the Long Trail from the Massachusetts border up past Stratton Mountain as it existed in 1915. The map's maker, Bennington native Louis Puffer was a lifelong outdoorsman and an active, member of the Green Mountain Club. He served as president of the Burlington section and the full GMC later in his life, in addition to serving as trustee of the latter for many years and editing the club's two major publications, The Long Trail News and The Guide Book. |
