Information |
During the winter of 1889-90 Joseph Drohat (1837-1918) and his three sons built this decorative birdcage with a jigsaw and a whole lot of patience. Drohat and his wife Barbara were born in Bohemia and immigrated to the United States in the 1870s, eventually settling in Bennington. Drohat was listed as dry goods peddler on 1880 census. They had three sons, Adolph, Joseph Jr., and Charles who would have been between 12-17 when they worked on this project with their father. The birdcage was given to the museum in 1966 by their youngest sister Mrs. Rosa Drohat H. Pike. |
