Fowler |
Description |
Fowling piece (unmarked) .55 cal. 33.25 inch barrel, 48.5 inches overall - was cutdown at some point. Maybe Rutland manufacture "WK" on underside of barrel. All brass hardware, stock probably of American manufacture as it is curly maple. Lock marked "B. HOME" converted to percussion. Top of barrel stamped "London." Wooden ramrod (b) with metal tip with curled metal end, other end tipped with horn. Gun supposedly taken from enemy soldier at the Battle of Bennington by Joseph Rudd, but this attribution is questionable. |
