Administrative/Biographical History |
Born in Cornwall, Vermont in 1802, Foot attended Middlebury College. He was admitted to the bar 1831 and practiced in Rutland, Vermont. Elected state representative 1833, 1836-1838; delegate to the Vermont state constitutional convention 1836; prosecuting attorney 1836-1842; U.S. representative 1843-1847; U.S. Senator 1850, 1856, 1862. He died in 1866 in Washington, DC. |
