Notes |
As a young woman, Miriam Kellogg Fredenthal intended to be a sculpturess, but weaving caught her attention at art school with its similar tactile nature and structural design problems. Fredenthal went on to teach textile design and weaving at Philadelphia College of Art and moved to Bennington in 1962 with her partner Tzaims Luksus. She served as the Vice-President and Production Manager for the mill that produced his award winning patterned silks and woven fabrics. The mill closed in 1966 and Fredenthal went on to teach at FIT in New York. She retired in 1987 and returned to Bennington to weave and garden. |
