Notes |
Almira Selden was born in Bennigton April 8, 1798, to Andrew and Charity Selden, and was the author of "Effusions of the Heart,"a 152-page book of original poems, printed in Bennington by Darius Clark in 1810 (see catalog number RL2012.437). She was baptized in the Old First Church in 1820 along with several other Seldens. She married Orin Edgerton Oct. 24, 1826, and died in Buffalo, N.Y., May 6, 1841, age 43. There is no evidence that she had children. Her father was an attorney, born in Hadley, Mass., who removed from Hadley first to Stamford, where he served in the General Assembly, then to Bennington in 1797, where he was a lawyer and probate judge. He died in 1825 age 63. |
